IS CHROMITE SAND DANGEROUS?
Chromite sand is an ore composed of a mixture of iron, chromium oxide, silicate and other components,with Cr2O3 as main chemical and high strength,high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance.
Chromite sand is mainly used in foundry,chemical,glass fields.
Although chromite sand is a useful ore,but it also has some danger as follows:
1.Volatility:chromite sand releases chrominum compounds at high temperature.
2.Toxicity:there is chrominum in chromite sand,and chrominum is toxic metal.if touch long time,will be harmful to human.
3.Corrosivity:chromite sand will corrode some metal and nonmetal.
Then how to use chromite sand properly to avoid above dangers:
1.Protective measures:take protective golves,glasses etc to avoid touch skin and eyes.
2.Processing conditions:control the temperature and keep air circulation to avoid chromium volatilization.
3.Waste disposal:take action on protecting the environment when dealing with waste of chromite sand
In a word,chromite sand is a useful material,but also a litte dangerous.As long as we take correct pretective measures,comply with relevant regulations and standards,it can be used safely.
