Then what inflence will have when use different sizes of chromite sand/flour ?
In short,there are 2 kinds:
1.When chromite sand is used, it is surrounded by finely dispersed magnesia. During firing, the number of ions diffusing from the chromite surface to the periclase is limited, resulting in cracks at the interface between the particles and the matrix, thereby improving the thermal shock stability of the material.
2.When chromite flour is used, the contact area between it and magnesia is large, and the ions diffuse fully during high-temperature sintering, forming a direct bond between high-refractory phases, improving high-temperature strength and corrosion resistance, but reducing thermal shock stability.
So when produce Mg-cr brick,the exact size of chromite should be considered.
